The graphic design of the richly illustrated publication is distinguished by its simple, aesthetic form. The Lexicon of bookbinding is the first in Poland, and one of the first in Europe, such a comprehensive study of tegumentology, which combines interdisciplinary knowledge of technology, materials, history and art history.

Three authors developed the individual thematic sections: E. Pokorzyńska (bookbinding technology), M. Pronobis-Brzezińska (morphology, performance techniques, conservation problems), A. Wagner (art-historical issues).
